It’s true -if your business has a website, you have a Facebook page and you either have a cart, or you are thinking about putting a cart in Social Media or on your website, then you make an income online.
This is also true – If you are searching around for ways to grow your business, you are going to hear the saying, ‘the money is in the list’.
And that this statement is 100%true, if you don’t have a list, then you will struggle to make an income online.
But just having a list, and not Nurturing your list is a little like landscaping the back yard and never putting in irrigation or a sprinkler system. It’s just not going to work long term.
Nurturing means connecting, updating, Relevant content, Meaningful shares, Multiple touches, Regular Updates, and keeping your name at the top of mind.
This is basically all the stuff that takes time. Think of it as online relationship building.
Think about the relationship you have with a very good friend, now think about how much time and value you have put into that relationship. Now think about someone who you like or know, but don’t really have a good relationship with, now think about how much time and value you have put into THAT relationship.
See the difference here,,,, and it’s the same online.
Now let’s clarify what ‘having a list’ actually means, (Sorry but it does not mean going out and simply buying a list of subscribers)
To have responsive, interested subscribers on your list, they should be relevant to what you have to offer, This means they have made a choice to be on your list or have opted-in to receive the information you are offering.
So now we have our list, what exactly are the benefits of having a list?
A list allows you to market your products or services via e-mail. This means you can keep your list abreast of what is currently available in your market sector and more importantly what is available on your site, as well as whatever is due to be released in the future. And because they’ve made a choice to be on your list or have opted-in to receive the information you are offering, any mail sent to the list is not considered as spam. And they are more likely to read what you’ve written.
So building a list is crucial, but only a small percentage of subscribers actually subscribe simply to be on your opt-in list. Subscribers are looking for information. If you provide a good newsletter or interesting content in your email, you will see your list build up and grow. You can do the same by having good content on your website. If people like what they see and read on your site, then they will want to know more and will sign up for your list. When you send out your emails or newsletter, you are really directing them back to your website, where you have your existing or new products for sale. The email or newsletter acts as a teaser or appetizer for your product or service.
